Why Verification Exists

When a buyer considers purchasing from someone they have never met, they look for signals of reliability. Reviews help. A well-maintained store helps. But verification badges serve a specific purpose: they indicate that Bukiia has completed certain checks that a buyer cannot perform on their own.

Verification is not a guarantee of a good experience. It is a statement of fact about what Bukiia has confirmed. Understanding the distinction helps both buyers and sellers use these badges correctly.

Identity Verification

An Identity Verified badge indicates that Bukiia has completed its applicable identity verification process for the seller. In plain terms, it confirms that the person behind the store is who they claim to be.

What it confirms is identity. What it does not mean is that Bukiia has physically inspected the seller's business or store. Identity verification is about the person, not the premises.

Store Verification

A Store Verified badge is separate from identity verification. It indicates that Bukiia has physically verified the existence of the seller's store and the seller's relationship to it. This is a higher bar in one specific respect: someone from Bukiia has confirmed that the physical location exists and that the seller is connected to it.

Physical verification may involve transportation costs, which may be payable by the shop owner where applicable. This is a practical reality of confirming that a physical premises exists in a specific location.

The Two Are Independent

A seller can therefore be Identity Verified without being Store Verified. This is an important distinction. Many legitimate sellers operate without a physical storefront — from home, from personal inventory, or from informal arrangements. They can still be identity verified and still be trustworthy.

A seller does not need a physical store to sell on Bukiia. Store verification is an additional layer, not a requirement.

Why Verification Matters for Sellers

For sellers, verification is a trust signal that can influence buyer decisions. A buyer comparing two similar listings may reasonably prefer the seller with a verification badge, because it represents a check that the other seller has not completed. Completing applicable verification is therefore a practical investment in your store's credibility.
