Photos Do the Convincing
A buyer reading a listing builds an impression from words. A buyer looking at photos builds trust. Photos are the closest a buyer can get to inspecting a product before purchasing, and they carry enormous weight in the decision.
For sellers, this makes photography a practical skill, not an afterthought. Good photos sell products. Poor photos leave good products unsold — or attract buyers who later feel misled.
Photographing the Actual Product
The most important rule is that photos should accurately represent the actual product. Buyers should see the item they will receive, not a stock image, not a manufacturer's promotional photo, and not an image taken from another seller.
Using misleading images — pictures taken from unrelated websites or other sellers where they do not represent the actual product — is a listing violation. It also defeats the purpose of photography. A buyer who purchases based on an inaccurate photo will be disappointed, and disappointment leads to disputes.
Photographing Used Products
For used products, photographs should show relevant wear and damage. This is not a disadvantage. A seller who honestly shows the condition of a used item attracts buyers who are comfortable with that condition. Concealing flaws attracts buyers who will feel deceived.
Where possible, use clear photographs with good lighting. Photograph important details. Show defects rather than hiding them. Show different angles. Use current photographs of the actual item, taken recently, not old images from when the product was new.
Meeting Listing Quality Requirements
Photos are part of a broader standard. Listings should accurately describe the product, use relevant photographs, state the correct condition, state important defects, use the appropriate category, display an accurate price, display accurate quantity, and avoid misleading claims.
A listing that meets this standard is one that can be trusted. A listing that falls short — vague photos, a wrong category, an inaccurate condition — is one that invites problems.
Why Quality Is Self-Interest
It is worth being direct about the commercial reality. Listing quality is not a burden imposed by Bukiia. It is what determines whether a listing succeeds.
A complete, accurate, well-photographed listing appears in the right searches, attracts the right buyers, and converts them. A poor listing is overlooked or mistrusted. The sellers who take listing quality seriously are the ones who sell consistently and avoid disputes.
Review Before Publishing
Before publishing a listing, review the title, category, description, condition, price, quantity, and photos. Confirm that the listing represents the product accurately and that nothing important is missing. Once published, the listing becomes discoverable to buyers — and it becomes the record of what you promised.
