Two Numbers That Must Stay True

Of all the details in a listing, two change most often: price and quantity. Products go on promotion, costs shift, and stock levels rise and fall. Keeping these two numbers accurate is one of the simplest and most important habits of a reliable seller.

When price and quantity are correct, buyers see the truth. When they are wrong, buyers encounter surprises — a price that changed after they looked, or a product that sold out before they could order. Both damage trust.

Changing Prices

Sellers can update prices where the platform allows. Changing a price affects future purchases. It does not change orders that have already been placed.

This is an important distinction. An existing order remains based on the price and product information that applied when the buyer placed the order. If a buyer purchased at 50,000 FCFA and the seller later raises the price to 60,000 FCFA, the existing order remains at 50,000 FCFA. The price change applies only to new purchases.

This protects buyers and gives sellers flexibility. Sellers can adjust pricing freely without affecting transactions already in progress.

Updating Inventory

Sellers are responsible for maintaining accurate stock quantities. When a product reaches zero quantity, Bukiia may automatically make the product unavailable through its inventory system. This prevents products with no remaining stock from continuing to appear as available.

Even with this safeguard, sellers should update inventory themselves when stock changes. Relying solely on automatic systems can leave gaps — particularly when partial quantities change but the product is not fully sold out.

Accurate inventory matters because buyers make decisions based on what they see. A listing showing three units when only one remains invites orders that cannot be fulfilled. Each unfulfilled order becomes a cancellation, a disappointed buyer, and a mark against the seller's reliability.

Updating Quantity in Practice

When stock changes, update the listing promptly. If you sell one of five units, reduce the quantity to four. If you acquire more stock, increase the quantity. If the product is fully sold out, mark it as sold or set the quantity to zero.

These updates take seconds. Their effect on buyer experience and seller reputation is significant.

Special Offers and Prices

Where a seller has reduced a price, Bukiia may display the original price alongside the current one — showing what the product previously cost and what it costs now. This is useful context for buyers, but it should be used honestly. An artificially inflated original price makes a discount meaningless and can mislead buyers.

Why Accuracy Is Self-Interest

The commercial logic here is straightforward. Sellers whose prices and quantities are accurate attract buyers who can complete their purchases without surprises. Sellers whose listings are stale accumulate cancellations, poor reviews, and disputes.

Updating prices and inventory is not administrative overhead. It is the difference between a store buyers trust and one they learn to avoid.
