Security Is Mostly About a Few Rules

Payment security can sound technical, but on Bukiia it comes down to a small number of clear principles. Follow them, and the vast majority of payment risks disappear.

Your PIN Belongs in One Place

Your Mobile Money PIN should only ever be entered through the official payment prompt provided by your mobile money provider. That is the only legitimate place for it.

Bukiia does not ask users to provide their Mobile Money PIN through chat, email, or messaging. Neither does any legitimate seller or buyer. No genuine support process requires it, and no valid transaction depends on it.

Anyone who asks for your PIN — regardless of who they claim to be — is attempting to compromise your account. There is no exception to this rule.

What You Should Never Share

Beyond your PIN, never share your Bukiia password, one-time passwords, verification codes, or payment authentication information. These credentials exist to protect you, and they are only useful to someone trying to bypass that protection.

Only enter sensitive payment credentials through the official payment interface provided by the payment provider. If you are ever unsure whether an interface is genuine, stop and verify before entering anything.

Recognising Payment Scams

Payment scams on marketplaces tend to follow recognisable patterns. Be cautious of anyone who:

• Requests payment outside the protected Bukiia process.

• Sends a screenshot claiming payment has been made.

• Presses you to pay urgently.

• Sends suspicious payment links.

• Claims to be Bukiia Support and asks for credentials.

• Provides inconsistent payment information.

Sellers should be equally cautious. Never consider an order paid simply because someone sends a screenshot, a message, or a transaction claim. Check the actual Bukiia order and payment status. Payment screenshots can be fabricated; the Bukiia order record cannot.

The Reason the Process Matters

Paying through the protected Bukiia process is itself a security measure. It keeps the payment tied to a recorded order, which means the funds are governed by the transaction rather than released immediately to the seller. If something goes wrong, the record exists and Buyer Protection can apply.

Payments made outside this process lose that protection. There is no order for Bukiia to review and no funds for Bukiia to hold. The security you gain from using the correct process is real, and it is worth protecting.

Payment security is not about vigilance in every moment. It is about a few rules applied consistently: keep your PIN in the official prompt, never share credentials, pay through Bukiia, and verify payment status on the order itself. Applied consistently, these habits make the payment side of a Bukiia transaction one of the safest parts of the experience.
