Why Payouts Are Held
When a dispute is opened, Bukiia may place the relevant seller payout on hold. The purpose is straightforward: to prevent funds from being released while a material transaction problem is being reviewed.
Without a hold, a payout could be released to a seller while a genuine problem is still being investigated — leaving the buyer with no effective remedy if the dispute is upheld. The hold ensures that funds remain available to satisfy whatever outcome the evidence supports.
A Hold Is Not a Verdict
It is important to understand what a payout hold is not. A dispute itself does not establish that the seller did anything wrong. A hold is a precaution, not a judgement.
A seller whose payout is held has not been found at fault. The hold simply pauses the payout until the investigation concludes. If the evidence shows the seller fulfilled the order correctly, the payout is released. If the evidence supports the buyer's claim, the outcome is applied accordingly.
The Buyer's Side of the Equation
A related principle protects buyers. A seller marking an order as shipped does not automatically eliminate the buyer's protection.
Bukiia may review whether the product was actually shipped, whether it matched the order, and whether delivery was properly completed. A shipment record establishes that something was dispatched — not that the correct product was sent, or that it arrived. The review examines the full picture.
Fraudulent Disputes
Just as sellers must not abuse the marketplace, buyers must not abuse the dispute system. Users must not manipulate the dispute process.
Examples of fraudulent disputes include false claims, fake photographs, staged damage, intentionally damaging an item, claiming a correct item is wrong, returning a different product, claiming a product was returned when it was not, attempting to keep both a product and a refund, and coordinating with another person to manipulate a transaction.
These behaviours harm the marketplace as a whole. They consume investigative resources, delay legitimate disputes, and undermine the trust that makes Buyer Protection possible.
Consequences of Abuse
Bukiia may restrict, suspend, or terminate accounts involved in serious or repeated abuse. This applies equally to sellers who falsify shipping evidence and to buyers who submit fraudulent disputes.
The reason is not punitive for its own sake. A protection system can only function if it is used honestly. Abuse by any party weakens the process for everyone who depends on it.
A Balanced System
Payout holds and protections against fraudulent disputes are two sides of the same principle: the dispute process must be fair to both parties. Sellers should not lose funds to unsupported claims, and buyers should not lose protection because a seller marked an order as shipped.
The hold exists to keep funds available until the truth is established. The rules against fraudulent disputes exist to keep the process honest. Together, they make Buyer Protection something both buyers and sellers can rely on.
